Nowshera
Nowshera is the 78th largest city in Pakistan and the ninth-largest city in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Located in the Valley of Peshawar, Nowshera lies on the Kabul River, and is approximately 27 miles (43 km) east of the provincial capital Peshawar.
There are several Sufi shrines in Nowshera District. Because of its strategic position in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the district of Nowshera is regarded to be the most historically significant. However, with the start of the CPEC project, Nowshera's Rashakai town has been designated as a KPK Economic Zone. However, when it comes to the inhabitants of Nowshera, Pashto is the mother tongue of the majority of locals. Hindko is also spoken in areas of the city and nearby villages.
Nowshera is a tribal territory with people belonging to a variety of tribes, including the Sagri Khattaks, Khattak Tribe, Akora Khattak, and Bhangi Khel. The District's residents adhere to Islamic customs and culture. Under Islamic law, various ceremonies and festivals are held. “Charaghan” is a festival that is celebrated with greater enthusiasm and passion. Nikah marriage ceremonies are frequently held at mosques. Males wear Shalwar and Kameez, while females wear Burqa/Hijab (veil).
People use the Jandali and Majhi dialects of Punjabi as a form of communication and exchange of ideas. Jehangir, Shaidu, Akora Khattak, and Kalan are among the places where the language is spoken. Urdu is the official language of Pakistan, and it is spoken and understood throughout the region. English is the official language as well as a language used in educational institutions. Arabic is a religious language that is also taught in high schools.
According to the 2011 census, the predominant religion in this area is Islam, with 99 percent of the population being Muslims. Other religions account for 0.5 percent of the Christian population. Ahmadis make up 0.3 percent of the population, whereas Hindus make up 0.1 percent. The region's literacy rate is 89 percent. There are numerous private and governmental educational institutions in the district. It is ranked 71 out of 155 districts in terms of offering quality education, and 14 out of 155 in terms of infrastructure and facilities.
